Relationships & Risk.

You know the saying friends come and go? The statement speaks for itself yet often times we forget the “friends come” part and focus heavily on the second part. We like to isolate the situations where “friends” hurt us and didn’t reciprocate the worth and value we were giving them. It is their loss in the long run, they missed out on having an amazing person as a friend. While it is good to cut off friendships/relationships that are not helping you grow as a person, it is not good to close yourself from establishing new ones. We are humans, we need human connection. I had never seen this perspective until recently, thanks to the Dr. John Deloney podcast (btw I am not getting paid to promote his show, I just really enjoy it). We are deserving of making new friends. Don’t forget that. Don’t let the shitty people that disregard your worth keep you from building new relationships. They don’t deserve that type of power. Continue to be your authentic self and the people that appreciate that will stay. Relationships involve risk, there is no way around it. Hate to use the stock market as a comparison but for lack of a better analogy I will use it lol, relationships involve risk too.

I am a firm believer that what you put into the universe will come back to you. Reflect on the friends and relationships you have had. Is there a friend you that gave you more than you ever gave them? Evaluate what kind a friend you are. The longevity of the friendships you have can speak to that. If the shoe fits wear it. I want to use this space to shout out the individuals I consider friends in my life. You know who you are. Thank you for being so kind to me, for inspiring to be a better person, for being the leaning shoulder when I need it, for accepting me as I am but not afraid to tell me when I’m in the wrong. I appreciate each and everyone of you. Shout out to the my new future friends, y’all are in for a treat with my crazy ass. And to the ones that didn’t value my friendship, *cricket cricket chirp chirp*, there is nothing to be said to people that don’t mean anything to me any longer. Mic drop. Two, two’s I’m outtie.

P.S. Bonus points to anyone that can name the Jessie Reyez song I referenced...
