Living to see another year of life is accompanied with a heightened sense of gratitude every year. Getting older has a direct relationship with gratitude (can’t believe I am using mathematics to explain myself lol). The biggest gift I receive is the gift of my own life and the life of my aunt and nephew who were born on 10/12 (libra gang) as well. I’m thankful for the experiences I’ve had thus far, the good, the bad, everything.
2020 has been a rough year for everyone. Personally, I lost two aunts, both of my parents lost their oldest siblings. My parents couldn’t travel because of COVID-19 and it was heartbreaking to see them grieve at a distance without being with the rest of the family. My heart goes out to everyone grieving the loss of a loved one during this time especially.
If there is a positive side to what we are living through with this pandemic it’s the fact that we have been forced to work on the relationships we have in our life. Human connection is probably higher now than pre COVID-19. I hope it remains this way. It’s never too late to form a connection with someone in your life or repair a broken relationship if that is the case.
As we are about to enter a new season, let’s use this time to plan ahead so that we transition smoothly. Winter conditions us to stay indoors for obvious reasons. We want to bundle up and stay inside, watch Netflix, drink hot beverages and chill. Now because of Covid-19, we won’t have the ability to the do the things we would normally maybe do during winter. Just be mindful of this and establish a self care routine to safeguard your mental & physical health. Now is the critical time to do it if you haven’t done so already.
I want to end this post with a challenge.
After you finish reading this, write down what you are grateful for in 2020. Notice I said write not just think about it. Reflection is great but writing requires you to take action. When you are done writing, look up gratitude journals on Amazon or wherever. If I sparked the interest to keep this action going, go purchase one! If you aren’t feeling the prices or just not into writing like that then I suggest the app called Gratitude. My little sister put me on this app and I love it! Go check it out, be grateful everyday, and keep knocking fear out of your life.
