Starting is the hardest part.

Creating a blog is something that I had been thinking about doing for a while. I never followed through with my initial urge to create one because I was too busy worrying about the feedback and reception it would gain, or lack thereof lol. To be honest, writing has always been a form of therapy for me. I remember the first diary I was gifted when I was in fifth grade. It was a pink ballerina themed diary that came with a key and lock. It was only after losing the key, that I realized the lock wasn’t all that sturdy because after a couple of bangs, boom, the lock came undone.

Writing in that diary transported me to another place, I felt refreshed after writing an entry no matter the context of it. Years went by and I eventually got tired of this pink diary, I felt I had outgrown it, so I purchased a replacement. I was at marshalls browsing through the office supplies section and a journal with a whale on the cover stood out for me. DREAM BIG was written on the front cover and it had cute humpback whales printed all over it. This is my current diary/journal. The entries have become way more spaced out, yet they still serve the same purpose they served back when I was a fifth grader.

Fast forward to present-day, here I am revisiting my writing urge, only this time it's the form of a blog. I am excited and nervous about this new venture I am embarking on. It’s time to let go of the fear and just do it.

You may be wondering by now what I will be talking about on this blog. I want my posts to be highlighting topics that are important to me but also to be very open to whatever I feel like sharing. Some of the topics I am very passionate are the following (probably missing some here but these are the ones that come to me immediately):

  • Learning about different cultures

  • Financial independence

  • Music

  • Self help books

  • Mental health

  • Podcasts I listen to

  • Traveling

  • Sports

If you have made it this far, thank you for your attention, time and interest. If you skipped over it, no hard feelings. My goal with this is to spark conversations, tough and necessary ones, casual and comical ones, whether it’s with me via comments or with your own, if you are left wanting to engage in more conversations, then I’ve done something right.

Love & light,

Meli
