Dreams have always been intriguing to me. I don’t dream often, but when I do, they are intense, random, and dramatic. Growing up, my mom always had some interpretation for my dreams. For instance, dreaming with toothaches meant someone was sick or going to die. Dreaming with snakes meant I had enemies or people that were envious of me but on the down low. Dreaming with weddings meant someone was pregnant. I find it funny and ironic given how religious she is. Now that I am out of on my own, I usually google them instead of asking my mom to avoid a whole discussion of her opinion of what they could mean. Mainly I stopped sharing because I don’t want to worry her. While I believe premonitions do exist, I don’t like to think of my dreams as foreshadowing to what could happen. I used to dwell on them and wonder what the hell they meant, especially if I kept dreaming similar situations. Now, I like to think of them as a way for our mind to diffuse built up energy whether it is negative or positive. The best kind of dreams are the ones with your loved ones that have already passed. I dreamt with my grandparents a couple of weeks ago and it all felt so real, waking up felt like a bucket of ice cold water. The mind is a powerhouse and it does a great job of filtering out thoughts and feelings based on the importance you give them. I feel like this translates into our dreams as well to a certain extent, and our dreams can symbolize something that we are either struggling with or have mastered.
Think about your most recent dreams. Think about the patterns you may notice among them. Are they any patterns or recurring themes? Do you keep a dream journal? Do you just ignore them altogether? Just food for thought… if you made it this far in my rambling, you’re dope.
Featuring this song was inevitable and what better entry than this one…
