To my English Teachers

From the moment I wrote my first essay

You made me feel like I had a voice

I spoke through graphite, ink, and typed words

Timid tomboy in public

Bold and passionate on paper

Elementary, Middle, High School and College

You all fostered my passion for writing

At the Hill you taught me how to formulate sentences

Sixth grade ignited my spark for poetry

By High School I was more than hooked

College challenged beyond belief

All those comments you left in the margins

Were not at all in vain

They helped me become a better writer

Of that I am certain

Some of you were harsh critics

Some of you were kind critics

Some of you had few to say

And yet all of you noticed my love for it

All these years later

I value the impact you all had on me

Thank you

Wherever you are

I want you to know

I

Still

Am

Writing…
